Drink Green Tea. Studies show you can burn 35-43% more fat during the day when you drink 3-5 cups of green tea.

Just like most people have a certain time they stop eating. My time is 9:00, because I usually want the room to have a snack between dinner and 9:00 p.m. I too brush and floss my teeth and then I put on my workout suit (difference from the casual clothes I put on after arriving home from work) around 8:30 p.m. That motivates and remind me that after the children are bath and in bed. It's time to treat myself to working out. And no matter how tired I am having on the workout suit helps.

Yogurt can help you lose weight while protecting muscle. A recent study of overweight people who at three servings of yogurt daily for 12 weeks lost 22% more weight, 61% more body fat and 81%more abdominal fat than people who ate a similar number of calories but no dairy products.

Stock your office pantry. It's much easier to ignore the vending machine when I’ve got half an orchard sitting on my desk and a drawer full of oatcakes, nuts and seeds.

Don't stress out. Stress can turn on your body's hormones that control fat storage, especially around your abdomen, and increase your appetite for carbohydrates. To prevent stress from wreaking havoc with your diet, exercise every day, including taking short breaks throughout the day to climb the stairs or walk the dog. And keep plenty of fruits and vegetables around to snack on.

Eat more fiber. Getting more fiber in your diet can help you control your weight. Eating fiber prevents you from overeating because it makes you feel full. You'll have an even greater feeling of fullness and higher energy levels throughout the day if you eat meals that are mostly made up of fiber, protein, and water. Fiber also slows down the digestion of foods you eat keeping your blood sugar/energy levels in check preventing you from getting hungry.

As someone who has lost 29 pounds, I have had many people ask me how I have made it work, so following are a few tips for your readers. I hope it helps: 1.The Diabetic Diet is a great, health, easy way to diet. Ask your doctor what he recommends and chances are it will be this one. It isn't just for diabetics, but it does keep you HEALTHY while you diet. 2. To figure out how many calories to have per day, take your target weight and multiple by 13 if you are not active, 15 if you are moderately active, and 17 if very active. This will provide you with the correct calories to eat per day to support the weight you WANT to be. The extra weight will eventually go away.

Drink like a fish; look like a gazelle. Experts say drinking about eight glasses of water every day raises your metabolism slightly and allows your body to avoid retaining fluid. Drink a glass of water before every meal and before workouts.

Think small to lose big. A study of dieters showed that those who focus on small goals such as losing only 5 to 10 percent of their body weight at a time were more successful at weight loss. Not only are small goals easier to reach, but reaching them keeps your motivation high and your momentum building.

Ditch the sugary and faux sugary drinks. Soda, fruit juice and diet soda makes me fat. The first two are obvious due to the high concentration of sugar which immediately gets stored as excess fat unless you burn it off right away. One coke or fruit juice per day will add an extra ten pounds on per year. Diet soda underwent a 9 year study with over 9,000 people in which the people who drank one diet soda per day showed serious symptoms of Metabolic Disease which includes; obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes & high cholesterol levels. It has also been shown that Aspartame and Sucralose can increase food and sugar cravings and they have been banned in several countries. Not to mention the caffeine in these drinks has been linked to increased cortisol levels and therefore increased belly fat. If you are trying to lose weight try switching to water or herbal teas for refreshment. You can add lemon or lime and you will get used to and even crave these flavors. The amount of money you will save soda consumption can be spent on a water filter such as Brita or something more advanced.

Taking Vitamin B-3 will help lower your sugar cravings and it will also help suppress your alcohol cravings as well.

Eat more protein. You'll eat up to 500 calories less per day when at least 30 % of the calories you eat is from protein and... You increase your body's fat burning metabolism every time you eat fiber & protein because your body has to burn a lot of calories just to digest the protein & fiber you eat plus...Protein speeds up your weight loss by helping you build and/or maintain lean muscle that also raises your fat-burning metabolism and...The main reason why people lose weight fast on high protein diets is because Protein suppresses appetite by keeping you fuller longer.

Just moving around burns calories. Maximize this potential by doing little things all day. Instead of an elevator, take the stairs or my favorite, get a long phone cord so that you can pace around while talking.

Start with a soup. This Japanese tradition is one of the best weight-loss strategies. That's because eating soup, particularly the broth-based vegetable kind, before your entrée fills you up so you eat less during the meal, explains Barbara Rolls, Guthrie professor of nutrition at Penn State University in University Park, and author of The Volumetrics Eating Plan (Harper-Collins, 2005). A two-year French study of 2,188 men and 2,849 women found that those who ate soup five to six times a week were more likely to have BMIs below 23 (considered lean), compared with infrequent- or noneaters whose BMIs tended to be in the 27 range.

A 12 ounce cola has 150 calories, two tablespoons of full fat salad dressing 150, a glazed doughnut 250 and a four ounce bagel, 300. Just eliminating these items will help you to lose weight.

Have a cuppa. When hunger strikes and it’s not meal time, I make a cup of tea. This gives me time to figure out if I’m really hungry or if I’m just bored or cranky or upset. Herbal tea is great – experiment until you find one that doesn’t taste like grass clippings!

One of the things I feel I need to say is that if you have to lose weight once it is something that you will need to keep a watch on for the rest of your life. Losing weight depends on one main ingredient- POSSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE! As a Certified Behavior Analyst, I know, no matter what diet you go on, you have to really want to lose the weight. Growing up heavy, and going on every diet under the sun, none worked until I decided to lose the weight. So, for any one planning to lose weight, remember to keep a POSSITIVE OUTLOOK! And good luck.

Don't get sweet on us. The average person eats about a half pound of sugar every day! This epidemic of sugar consumption may be related to the skyrocketing rates of obesity. Look for foods that have less than 5 milligrams of sugar per serving, and remember: The more sugar you eat, the more you'll want. The less sugar you eat, the better you'll feel.

A recent study shows that calcium from diary foods is more effective for weight loss than supplements. Why? Food is a complex mixture of known and unknown components. There is a cooperation among the components that can’t be reproduced in a nutritional supplement. Dairy contains calcium and a host of other biologically active components including the amino acid leucine. Recent research reveals that leucine may increase the ability of muscle to use fat. Have low-fat or skim milk before a meal. Studies show that getting a liquid form f dairy before eating helps you feel fuller sooner at that meal and eat less at the next meal. If you are lactose intolerant, try yogurt with live culture (it has very little lactose) or take a lactose supplement when consuming dairy.

Get a caffeine buzz. Drinking an unsweetened, caffeinated cup of coffee or tea before a workout can help you burn more calories. In a recent study, "subjects who consumed at least 300 milligrams of caffeine two hours before a 30-minute ride on a stationary bike burned a significantly greater number of calories than did their caffeine-free counterparts." (Just don't take this as a license to drink the entire pot of coffee! A cup may help before a workout, but coffee-stained teeth aren't too appealing!)

Use Tastants. Tastants are calorie free crystals you add to foods to intensify the foods natural scent and once you smell the foods intensified scent. This will cause your brain to release a hormone called leptin which makes you feel full while also at the same time - your body will slow down the release of the ghrelin hormone which makes you hungry and.

Limit your salt. Consuming more than the recommend 2500mg (1 tablespoon) of sodium each day will cause you to retain water and gain weight (bloating). When you limit the amount of sodium you eat your body will begin to expel some that unwanted water weight.

When baking, use applesauce instead of oil in recipes. Use bullion cubes to make grave, eliminating the fat. Susan Powder has great information in her books. You really can eat more quantity than you think and loose weight with her method.

Mix up the flavors. In ayurveda, including the six basic tastes-sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent-is the key to a satisfying meal that won't leave you craving junk food later, says Workman. Not sure where to start? This will cover all the flavor bases: Try salmon with yogurt dill sauce along with some sautéed kale topped with mango chutney, a sweet potato sprinkled with sea salt and a little clarified butter, and finish with a cup of chai and a small piece of dark chocolate.

Eat fish at least thrice a week. The omega 3 fatty acids in fish have been shown to reduce heart attack and stroke risk in addition to helping you maintain a nutritional diet.

Get some sun. "Too little sunlight can trigger cravings for high-calorie, fatty carbs like cakes, cookies, ice cream and chips," says one weight loss expert. Especially in the winter, get outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. Your body needs those rays to produce serotonin, a feel-good hormone in our brains that helps control cravings.

Make sure you're getting enough sleep. Not getting enough Sleep makes your body release an appetite causing hormone called Ghrelin that makes you want to eat more so. Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep so you can lower your Ghrelin levels and increase the levels of the fat burning & appetite suppressing hormone Leptin.

Get more active. Adding a little physical activity to your daily routine will help you start losing weight quicker than you can imagine. Don't Worry, getting more active doesn't mean you have to sign up at a gym and take tae-bo or start participating in marathons regularly!

Go for color. The Japanese have a saying: "Not dressing up the meal with color is like going out without clothes." Not only does color make food more attractive, but consciously seeking out colorful foods is a great way to bulk up your meals without a lot of calories. A Cornell University study of 6,500 adults in rural China found that while the Chinese ate about 30 percent more than the average American male, they weighed about 25 percent less, largely because they ate a lot of plant-based foods. The Japanese aim for five colors at each meal: red, blue-green, yellow, white and black, including things like red peppers, squash, broccoli, onions, black beans or black olives. "We're variety seekers, so instead of seeking a variety of, say, cookies, get the variety from these low-energy dense foods," Rolls says.

Sometimes you can go with fast food. Burger Kings BI Veggie Burger with reduced fat mayonnaise contains 340 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat. It’s better than just about any burger at any other food chain.

Turn off the radio. When a restaurant decides they want you "fed and out in 40 minutes, they play music that pounds to 125 to 130 beats per minute; the faster the music, the faster you eat." So either turn off the music or play slow, relaxing tunes that help you relax while you eat.

Most cravings pass within 20 minutes because they're often all in your head so you can survive these "fake cravings" by chewing on a some sugarless gum.

Wake up & Workout! As soon as you wake up in the morning workout for at least 30min to an hour. Studies show that working out in the morning has been shown to burn up to 3 times as more fat as opposed to working out at any other time during the day.

Find a cool place to walk around. I put my Health Rider next to my computer so when I search the Web and it takes a while to download I get on the Health Rider, so I'm constantly moving back and forth, burning calories and not just sitting at the computer.

Drizzle on the healthy oils. Healthy fats like olive oil, a staple of the Mediterranean diet, and canola oil, a staple of Okinawans, make vegetables tastier, so you're likely to eat more of them. According to data from the Catalan Nutrition Survey done in Spain, people who ate the most olive oil also consumed more vegetables than those who consumed the least olive oil. And, as we know, eating a diet rich in produce is key to maintaining a healthy weight. In a study of more than 74,000 female nurses conducted over 12 years, Northwestern and Harvard University researchers discovered that those who added the most fruits and vegetables to their diets lowered their risk for major weight gain by 28 percent.

Don't skip breakfast. People who skip breakfast are 4 times more likely to be FAT than people who Don't skip breakfast! Eating breakfast in the morning also gets your metabolism started. A recent Study at the University of Texas at El Paso found that people who ate breakfast also ate 100 less calories a day and if you eat 100 less calories every day for one year - you'll easily lose 10 pounds. Don't skip breakfast and wait until mid-morning or afternoon to eat, your metabolism will run slower causing you not burn any extra fat.

Labels do not tell someone the percentage of fat in each serving. The AMA says we shouldn't exceed more than 30% of fat of total calories per day, lower when dieting. This is the Fat Formula I learned of by reading one of Susan Powters books. Take the total fat multiply by 9,then divide this answer by the total calories. This method is so much easier than counting grams. If the number is 30 or below, eat it, that simple.

I am on my own personal crusade to look and feel better, and I found the tips comforting and invigorating. I find what helps me to stay on track is to give myself an occasional reward when I have reached a goal that I set out for myself. Whether it's completing 25 hours of exercise, or reaching a goal of 5 pounds, every little bit of encouragement helps. Although, rewarding with favorite foods might seem enticing, I find it better to reward myself with non-food items. Buy yourself a good book, go see a movie, buy yourself a new sweater or pair of jeans, or shoes. You can always take a class that you've always wanted to try, or try my favorite; buy a low-fat cookbook. It's important to learn all about nutrients so that your weight loss is not the result of a fad diet but of a new way of living.

Make lunch your main meal. Although they do this throughout Europe, a good explanation for eating your big meal at midday comes from ayurveda, India's 5,000-year-old approach to wellness. "According to ayurveda, we're actually designed to eat the larger meal at lunch because our digestive 'fire,' called agni, is strongest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so we digest more efficiently," explains Jennifer Workman, a Boulder, Colorado-based ayurveda specialist, registered dietitian and author of Stop Your Cravings (Free Press, 2001). "I've seen people in my practice lose 5 to 10 pounds just by doing this."

Subway’s 7 subs with 6 grams of fat or less include ham, roast beef, chicken and turkey and range from 200 to 300 calories for a six inch sub.

Put the scales in perspective. Don’t fret over small fluctuations – focus on all the healthy things you’ve been doing for your body. Get out the tape measure or have a pair of “measurement jeans”, so you’re not dependent on the scales for feedback.

Boil your foods instead of cooking them.

Go easy on salt and high salt foods. Limit your salt intake. Salt also makes your cravings worse and too much salt also causes you to gain unwanted water weight.

Take a whiff of Vanilla scent to curb cravings. The sweet smell of vanilla tricks you into thinking you already satisfied your cravings for sugars.

Drink plenty of water, especially cold water (i.e., with ice or from the refrigerator). The body cannot use the water until it is warmed up to your body temperature. The colder the water, the more energy the body must use to warm the water, thus burning more calories.

Wendy’s Mandarin Chicken Garden Sensation Salad is a creative salad alternative of mixed greens, chicken and mandarin orange sections, roasted almonds and a half packet of Oriental sesame dressing is a great alternative at just 470 calories.

Think quality, not quantity. The French snub processed "diet foods" not found in nature, opting instead for high-quality meats, fish, produce, dairy, even desserts. When food is fresh and flavorful, you can be satisfied with smaller portions. This is the opposite of the American approach, which is to fill up on bland diet foods, then gorge on sweets later. "The French set the standard for small portions with their haute cuisine," says David Katz, MD, author of The Way To Eat (Source Books, 2002). "If we consider that part of eating is to induce pleasure, if you can get there with quality of choice, you get there in fewer calories."

Be adaptable. Make your weight loss plans fit around your life, not the other way around. Sometimes circumstances will change – a new job, a family crisis, moving house – and suddenly your usual routine doesn’t work. The trick is to be flexible and know when it’s time to tweak your methods.

A proper sleep is very important in case you want to lose weight.

Fats should only be 10% in your meal plan.

Battle PMS cravings with Calcium. Research has shown that women who take calcium supplements or consume at least 1 serving of dairy products daily (like yogurt, skim milk, or low-fat cheese) about 2 weeks before menstruation will significantly lower their cravings during PMS for bad carbs that make them gain weight.

Avoid refined or processed carbs (mainly sugar). Refined carbs include heavily processed or high sugar foods like fluffy white breads/bread snacks, regular sodas, most breakfast cereal, sweets, candy, cookies and cakes. Refined carbs cause your blood sugar levels to rise very fast and then crash very quickly making you crave for more sugar (refined carbs).

Lift heavier weights to burn fat faster. IF you lift heavy weights (that allow you to only do 3-to-5 reps per set) you'll burn more calories during your weight training workout if you lifted lighter weights for 8-to-12 reps and the reason is simple...You burn more calories or use much more energy to lift heavier weights plus... You'll get a much greater after burn effect from lifting heavier weights because of the high intensity and because of the fact your body's metabolism will burn more fat to help your body recover from your heavy weight training workout.

A lot of people grew up with the order to "clean your plate" at each meal. As an adult, I found that no matter how much food I piled on, I ate all of it, just to 'clean my plate'. One solution I've found to help with this is the simply use a smaller plate (salad plates, usually). That way, I have a full plate, and can eat everything on it without feeling bloated. And the portions are by necessity smaller.

Have an egg for breakfast. Studies found that an egg for breakfast helped overweight people feel more full over 24 hours than a bagel-based breakfast of equal calories and the people who ate the egg breakfast ate 330 calories less during the day and after an 8-week study. The people who had eggs for breakfast instead of bagels lost 65% more weight and they lost 16% more fat and don't worry about your cholesterol levels going up because even though the people in that 8 week study had 2 eggs for breakfast everyday. Their cholesterol levels were the same as the group that ate bagels after 8 weeks and eating eggs will only raise your HDL cholesterol levels which is the good cholesterol.

A veggie sandwich may not always be the ideal choice. The two ounces of cheese added to these popular lunchtime meals contain three quarters of a full day’s allowance for saturated fat. Tuna salad (because of the mayonnaise), has 720 calories and chicken salad is 550 calories. Stick with turkey, roast beef, chick breast or veggie sandwich without the cheese.

Chow down only when you're hungry. Americans eat for all sorts of reasons besides hunger, especially from boredom, loneliness, stress or fear, a foreign concept in other cultures. "You can't make food the solution to every issue in your life and expect to be thin," says Dr. Katz. "If you eat from boredom, find a hobby. If you eat to relieve stress, learn meditation or yoga."

Set a non-scale goal. Why not train for a charity 5k race or challenge yourself to do ten push-ups? Focusing on fitness means I don’t fret about the numbers so much. And all those endorphins make me feel less inclined to go on a chocolate bender.

Add more cereals to your breakfast!

Join a dance class and stay active.

Do cardio last to blast fat fast. Before you hop on the bike or treadmill for an hour it's best that you spend 45 minutes doing a moderate-to-high intensity weight training or body sculpting workout to use up most of your body's stored carbs or glycogen for energy so when you do get ready to do your cardio workout...Your body will began to burn more fat for energy during your cardio workout rather than a combination of fat and carbs because you already used up most of your body's stored carbs for energy during your 45 minute body sculpting workout.

According to Jillian Michaels - To naturally get rid of excess water weight quickly ... Limit your salt or sodium intake to only 1500mg a day so you won't retain any fluid (water weight) and for an extra weight loss boost... The main high sodium foods to avoid are: canned, frozen, processed, & packaged foods and... Drink 2 liters of distilled water each day to flush out the excess water weight you're carrying around now - Distilled water is basically PURE water with no salt or minerals in it.

All salads are not created equal. A taco salad is served in a fried taco shell filled with ground beef, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. It contains 1,100 calories a full day’s quota of saturated fat!

Dine with others. Eating with family or friends vs. alone in your car, at your desk or on the couch is part and parcel of traditional cultures. Not only does camaraderie make the meal more enjoyable, it's slimming. "Eating with others restrains your own behavior," notes Dr. Katz. "You eat more slowly, which increases the likelihood that you'll register when you're full before you've eaten more than you should."

Accept that sometimes it’s going to suck. Despite your best intentions, there will be days when you fall into a bag of crisps. But long-term success is about persistence, not perfection. It’s picking yourself up when you fall, over and over again.

Changing diet should be a matter of healthier life style. Learn all you can about different foods and nutrition. The more you know the easier it is to implement healthy nutrition in your diet.

Eight glasses of water a day does not seem as daunting if you drink it as only two big frosty 32 ounce thirstbuster-type cups of water. Just think: How many times have you chugged one of the big cups filled with soft drinks quickly on a hot day at a ball park? It is easy to do, and you get your water requirement without thinking that you are drowning!

Eat several mini-meals during the day, rather than 3 large meals. It helps one to avoid eating until they are "stuffed" and also reduces drops in blood sugar levels.

Weight lifting helps a lot in helping the body lose fat. It also tightens the muscles so you will look and appear thinner. It is a known fact that lifting weights burns more calories than aerobics. You will begin to enjoy it after a while, even though the idea is not so enticing!

Have a glass of wine. A staple of French and Mediterranean tables, wine adds joie to the meal, and because it contains potent antioxidants, is at least partly responsible for why these cultures traditionally have lower rates of cardiovascular disease and mortality despite their higher-fat diets. And while some studies show that we tend to eat more when we imbibe, a Finnish study actually found that male drinkers were leaner than abstainers.
